For every shirt sold, one ʻōhiʻa tree will be planted through the NTBG seed bank. Our hope is to plant thousands, ensuring that ʻōhiʻa thrives again for future generations.
A collaboration between Rocket Ahuna x Aloha de Mele.
ʻŌhiʻa lehua is one of the most sacred trees in Hawaiʻi. It is often the first tree to grow on new lava flows, anchoring ecosystems and providing habitat for countless native species. Beyond ecology, ʻōhiʻa is deeply woven into our culture, chants, and stories—it is an ancestor, a living connection to history.
Sadly, ʻōhiʻa is under threat. A fungal disease known as Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death (ROD) has killed hundreds of thousands of trees across Hawaiʻi, devastating forests and threatening the balance of our ecosystems. Without ʻōhiʻa, we risk losing not just native flora and fauna, but also vital pieces of our ancestral knowledge and cultural identity.
This shirt was hand-illustrated by JT, inspired by lei created by Lei Wann of Limahuli Garden. With this collaboration, we aim not only to spread awareness of ROD but also to actively help restore ʻōhiʻa.
